Dr. Eugene S. Mananga is a Tenured Full Professor of physics and nuclear medicine at The City University of New York (BCC & Graduate Center), an Adjunct Professor of applied physics at New York University, and a Visiting Scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory. He is currently a selected Fellow at KAVLI Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP) at the University of California Santa Barbara. His research spans a range of topics in condensed matter physics, materials science, and computational science. Specifically, his research focused on controlling the spin dynamics in solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and using computational methods based on density functional theory to investigate and characterize materials systems for energy storage as well as zeolite catalysis. His work utilizes a range of methods, from experimental solid-state NMR to theoretical chemical physics and spectroscopy, and modern computational chemical science with high-performance computing. He has published more than 80 peer-review scientific articles and is the recipient of several distinguished awards including the 2017 Henry Wasser Award in physics from The CUNY Academy for Humanities and Sciences in recognition of Outstanding Scholarship and Academic Performance, the 2018 Distinguished Scientist Award from the American Chemical Society (New York Section) for “Contributions and Advanced Studies in the Theory of Spin Dynamics in Solid-State NMR and Quantum Mechanics,” the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award from VDGOOD Professional Association in India in Recognition for International Scientists of Engineering, Science and Medicine, the 2022 CUNY Junior Faculty Research Award in Science and Engineering (JFRASE) sponsored by the Alfred P. Román A. Pérez graduated from the University of Barcelona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry (2006) and carried out his Doctoral Degree in the field of Calcium Phosphate Cement at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (2011). As a doctoral student, he spent nine months working in a research lab at Harvard University. After completing his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at a number of institutions, including the Institute of Tissue Regeneration Engineering in South Korea (2011-2013), University College Dublin (2013) and Ryerson University (2013-2014). In 2014, he became a tenure-track lecturer at Dankook University in South Korea (2014-2016). Professor Rangel earned his Physics degree and M.Sc. from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Unidad Iztapalapa, in Mexico City. He then pursued an M.Sc. in Optoelectronics and Laser Devices, a joint program between Heriot-Watt and St. Andrews Universities in Scotland, where he also completed his Ph.D. at Heriot-Watt University. Returning to Mexico, Professor Rangel joined the Department of Optics at CICESE in Ensenada, Baja California, as a Research Fellow and he is now a Senior Scientist. His research focuses on the nonlinear optical properties of materials, their applications in all-optical signal processing devices, and the generation of photon pairs for quantum information processing. He has worked with various materials, including organic molecules, amorphous semiconductors, and nanostructured materials. Professor Rangel has published over 80 refereed papers, numerous conference proceedings, seven book chapters, and edited one book, with more than 1,400 citations. He has supervised 1 B.Sc., 13 M.Sc., and 7 Ph.D. students and led multiple CONACYT-México funded projects. He has conducted postdoctoral research in Japan and short research stays in Spain, the USA, and Italy. Dr. Hicham Es-soufi is a Professor at the National Higher School of Chemistry (NHSC), Ibn Tofail University, Kenitra, Morocco. He has also served as the Director of Studies and Professor at the Higher School of Engineering, ESGCNT, Meknès, Morocco. Dr. Es-soufi is a member of the editorial board for three international scientific journals and has peer-reviewed for over 50 international scientific journals. Most importantly, Prof.Chen has developed a nano-product “Lycopene Chylomicron” and a phase III clinical trial was completed in both Taiwan and USA in 2017, demonstrating effectiveness in the treatment of patients with prostate hypertrophy.Expectedly, this product will become the first botanic drug in the world for treatment of patients with prostate hypertrophy without side effects. Furthermore, Prof. Chen has developed a nano drink product with cinnamon leaves as raw material recently, which was demonstrated to be effective in the treatment of type II diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease in rats. Additionally, a healthy edible oil was developed to be effective in the treatment of cardiovascular disease in hamsters. Both products will be commercially available soon. In 2020, the International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM), a European organization has honored him with IAAM Scientist Award 2020 for his contribution to the advancement of science and technology. At the same year he was also honored with Vebleo Fellow. Also, he has been rated as the top 2% scientists in the world since 2021 by Elsevier Publishers/Stanford University. More recently, the IAAM has conferred him with the Fellow of IAAM (FIAAM) for his contribution to Nanomaterials–Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Rajagopalan Vijayaraghavan is currently Senior Professor at the Department of Chemistry, School of Advanced Sciences. Dr. Kheiria Hcini is a researcher at the Laboratory of Biodiversity, Biotechnology and Climate Change (LR11ES09), University of Tunis El Manar, Tunisia and Associate Professor at the University of Gafsa. Dr. Hcini has expertise in phytochemical characterization, as well as quantification and profile identification of essential oils and polyphenolic compounds with the evaluation of biological properties of bioactive molecules from aromatic and medicinal plants. Dr Hcini is also interested in the nanoencapsulation of plant extracts, having expressed the highest levels of total polyphenolic content and the best antioxidant capacity, in silk fibroin nanoparticles (SFN) for the controlled release of these compounds in applications in the field of biomedicine, cosmetics, and food.
